Situation and medium-term forecast for Great Britain

Forecast for Great Britain

The Great Britain pollen monitoring network is administered by the UK Met (Meteorological) Office from Eskdalemuir in the South of Scotland. Our monitoring network comprises 2 sites in Scotland, 1 each in Wales and Northern Ireland, and a further 10 in England. Most of the sites operate throughout our pollen season (mid March to early September), but 3 of them operate only during the grass pollen season (mid May to mid August).

Data from the sites is used in conjunction with the weather forecast to produce a pollen forecast, available at:

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/health/public/pollen-forecast

The new season is due to get underway on the 15th March 2016.

(Note that fungal spores can occur throughout the year, particularly in humid conditions, and that this allergen affects a significant number of people.)

Best to check with the Met Office link given above.

Pollen load map of Europe for

in

For planning your vacation, we have produced maps that show Pollen loads in Europa in different time periods. These maps show measured pollen counts from the past 10-15 years, based on records from over 300 pollen-monitoring stations in Europe.
Per month you can find three maps that show you the potential pollen loads. The representations are weighted according to severity of the expected allergic symptoms. White areas show parts of Europe where there is no risk from a particular pollen type, green represents areas with low amounts of a certain pollen type, and yellow to dark red marks areas with increasing pollen loads from moderate to very high. Click on the map to zoom in.
